I agree with C.S. Pierce’s idea that “the art of reasoning is the art of marshalling such signs, and of finding out the truth". I believe that the act of reasoning is a process in which you think about all the factors (such as people and circumstances) and define them in a logical way to make meaning of the whole situation. Similarly, in order to interpret a sign or to create one, it takes a step by step thought process. Pierce gives a good example of different mind states (feeling,reacting,learning) to explain this concept. One point to add is that this cycle never ends and will continue in the same order.
